Just been sorting out my fishing gear to make a little bushcraft fishing kit and found a mini rod and reel I bought years ago and had forgotten about.

The rod is telescopic and looks like a large pen when folded down the rod is only 8" long when folded and 36" long when pulled out to a fishing rod, so well small enough to fit into your pocket or backpack.
The reel is tiny but usable and will hold about 55 meters of 5lb line.

    Picture of rod and reel.

And just to get an idea how small the reel is I took a picture of it next to a clipper lighter.

There are a few videos on youtube of people catching some nice fish with these little setups.
So mine will be going in my backpack to try out next time I am out near the river.

Just ordered one but did it from Amazon as I already have an account there, plus I found it 50p cheaper. Not sure what the quality will be like for about £6.50 but the missus says I'll never use it so it doesn't really matter:D

It arrived today, once I'd figured how to open it (had to put it back together again:eek:) it looks like it would be good for catching tiddlers while camping. You would have to be a bit careful not to abuse it though.

You should be alright for fish upto 2 or 3lb in weight, you would just need to play the fish. There is a few videos on you tube of guys catching fish upto a few pounds on them. Nice compact gadget for your kit.
